Chalmers Ford Celebrates Tom Cullen's Retirement

Tim Cullen's retirement cake at his retirement party at the Chalmers Ford dealership in Albuquerque, NM

After nearly 16 years of dedicated service, we bid a heartfelt farewell and joyful congratulations to one of the cornerstones of Chalmers Ford: Tom Cullen.

REAL PEOPLE – TOM CULLEN

Tom joined us back in January 2010 and has been a steady, powerful presence ever since, first in Thrifty Car Sales, then in Fleet Vehicle Sales, where he played a vital role in making Chalmers a national leader in Commercial and Government sales.

As our General Manager Andy Strebe puts it: "Tom's leadership is where the game started. He's been a tireless ambassador for our brand, someone we could always count on to solve a problem and represent Chalmers with integrity and calm."

Owner Gary Housley adds, "Tom has been the kind of employee every dealer hopes for, someone who truly cares about the work, the customers, and the people around him. For nearly 16 years, he's represented our values with integrity and heart. Tom didn't just do his job; he helped build the culture that makes Chalmers special. We're grateful for his years of service and proud to call him family."

Throughout his time here, Tom was never just a coworker — he was a mentor, a leader, and often, a friend.

More than a Team Member: A Legacy

"Tom has been an inspiration and mentor to me from the very beginning. He brought out the best in people by showing, not telling, how it's done."
Mike Michnuk. Fleet Manager

"Today's Tom is the same Tom that came to work at Chalmers Ford back in January of 2010. He's one of the most genuine people I know. Always willing to help no matter what. He's been a leader inside and outside the dealership walls since day one."
Gina Spence, Executive Assistant

"I've always enjoyed Tom's smiling face, laugh, positive attitude, his loud music playing in the corner of the Fleet department, and being a great golfing mentor and buddy. He always exudes joy when he selflessly MC's the Christmas party!"
Anne Marie Martinez, Finance Manager

A Steady Hand, a Kind Heart

Tom's approach to leadership was deeply human, the kind that makes lasting impact. Whether he was solving a customer issue, mentoring a teammate, or bringing energy to our holiday celebrations, he brought joy, steadiness, and heart to every interaction.

And let's not forget the golf games, the music that filled the Fleet department, and the way he could handle any challenge with grace and good humor.

As Andy said it best: "If we ever had a customer problem, we could send Tom over like we would dispatch the fire department. He would put out the fire and come back to the station ready for the next emergency."

Here's to What's Next

Tom, your dedication and heart have shaped who we are and who we'll continue to be. Your impact reaches into every corner of this dealership: in how we treat each other, how we serve our customers, and how we lead with authenticity and care.

We wish you and Jan the most relaxing, joy-filled, and well-deserved retirement. You've earned every moment of rest, adventure, and happiness that lies ahead.

Thank you for being one of our Real People.
